Spread a little love this weekend. Open the door for someone. Say thank you. Don’t forget to dance a little..

Roots - Keep It Simple

For those that know me, this may not come as a surprise.. I am a talkative person that can be long winded. I am comfortable verbally processing, both to myself and others. Although I’ve found this can encourage others to be vulnerable and open, it can be drawn out and leave a listener confused.. wondering the point of the words. Recently, I had a mentor suggest a question to ask myself when speaking, Can I say that simpler? The practice of using fewer words to say more, known as Word Economy.

Keep it simple. This has opened my eyes to simplicity, beyond just my words. Closing the gap between thoughts and action, simplifying. Do the thing. Leaning into simple and kind communication. Sitting still with no phone. As the saying goes, less is more.

Many of us overcomplicate the simple. Convincing ourselves it will take 3 hours to fold a load of laundry. Overthinking that cooking class we’ve always wanted to take. Making the move to a new job, or city. No matter how big or small the thing might be, be curious with yourself.

A few questions for you:

Where can I keep it simple? What space will this create for me? If gratitude replaces that space, how would I feel?

KLOUTY SPOTLIGHT

KABOOM.

Today I want to share a little about a NonProfit that is near to my heart, Kaboom. Their mission is to end playspace inequity. Building playgrounds throughout the country has helped 12 million kids be just that, kids.

Growing up, I was lucky people from all over the county would come play at the basketball court right by my house. We had 2 courts and lights that stayed on until 10pm. That was enough to entertain us daily, keeping us out of trouble and constantly meeting new people.

I’ve learned in the last few years that sharing has created my own version of success. If I can encourage you to do anything, find something you care about and give back to it. Whether that be with your time or money, you have no idea how greatly that will impact someone, let alone yourself.
